Training of a para vet: 1 euro = 20 euros! PDF Print E-mail

paravet.jpgIn the villages, often poorly connected and far from the main roads, the animals die due to a lack of care. The peasants then loose a lot of money, they sell the dead animal at a discounted rate on the local market.

We have already trained more than a hundred para vets, two thirds of them now work full time for their new job. They have basic knowledge, but soon a lot of practical experience, they can resolve most cases, do the vaccinations, give advice for better hygien and nutrition. The advantages are many:

  • The farmers do not need to go far for advice and help. Before the veterinary would refuse to come. There are also many crooks. With a para vet the travel costs are reduced, the farmer does not have to buy medicines without a proper diagnosis.
  • The para vets are farmers themselves. They charge a small fee as they are from the same villages. In fact they are often only paid when the farmer sells the pig!
  • As a result, the dead rate has dropped and more farmers are keen to raise pigs, chicken, rabbits...The incomes in the community increase.
Training a para vet costs, all inclusive, 178 €. We estimate one para vet saves for an average of 200 € of livestock every month -counting also the para vets who hardly practice their new skills. Mister Bich was trained 3 years before, he is now a full time practitioner, he has become a reference in the commune. We make a conservative estimate: 1 € invested in the training of a para vet brings a return of more than 20 € to the community.
