Since 1976, numerous journeys to the Himalayas have enabled Jean-Dominique
Burton to witness the survival of Tibetan people in exile. He experiences
Vietnam as a breath of fresh air and a confrontation to a part of Asia
he only knew through war stories that haunted his childhood. He pictures
the Vietnam of today, traveled up and down, from North to South, discovering
the country through its minorities, life, death, the cult of ancestors
and the few remaining monks, contrasting with the new religion of the
Dollar God. A fascinating journey that allows one to experience the past
and the future of this country, provoking thoughts on the validity of
what we call progress.
This book bears witness to all of this through the photographs of Jean-Dominique
Burton and the preface of France Borel.
